Agreement to terms

By downloading, installing, or using MakiRoll (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and FjordKit Digital (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

The product

MakiRoll interviews you while the iPhone camera records, finds the strongest self-contained takes, suggests an order, and exports the cut you approve to Photos. It is not a general-purpose video editor.

These terms cover the supported MakiRoll web, iOS, and Android applications.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use MakiRoll. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian’s permission to use the App.

By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

License to use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use MakiRoll for your personal use, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App.
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code, our models, or our keys.
• Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
• Remove any copyright or proprietary notices.
• Use the App to create content that infringes on others’ rights.

Your content

You keep ownership of the recordings and videos you make. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions to appear on camera, to talk about what you talk about, and to export or share the result.

By recording with MakiRoll, you confirm and warrant that you own the content or have obtained all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use it, that anyone who appears in your recordings has agreed to be recorded, and that your use of the content does not infringe any third party’s intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights. FjordKit Digital is not liable for claims arising from content you did not have the right to record.

Recordings and storage

Interview files and finished cuts stay on your iPhone. If iCloud backup is on, a copy can also live in your private iCloud so you can recover videos after deleting the app. MakiRoll cannot restore video from FjordKit servers. Deleting a project in the app removes the local files and the iCloud copy.

Subscriptions and purchases

You can make your first three videos free. Creating new videos beyond that requires a paid plan: Casual ($9.99/month or $89.99/year), Creator ($19.99/month or $174.99/year), or Unlimited ($39.99/month or $299.99/year). Prices are shown in USD, include VAT where applicable, and Apple may show a different price in your region.

Exporting never requires a paid plan. You can export as many videos — and as many edits of your videos — as you like. Exports made without a paid plan include a MakiRoll watermark; a paid plan removes it.

Purchases and subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. Apple handles payment, renewal, and cancellation, and refunds are subject to Apple’s refund policy — we cannot process refunds directly. Manage or cancel in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from Manage subscription in MakiRoll. Restore purchases in MakiRoll Settings if you reinstall.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

AI features

Maki asks questions and suggests takes from what you said. Those suggestions can be incomplete or off. You decide the final sequence and whether to export. MakiRoll does not promise a particular video length, platform result, or business outcome.

Using the service responsibly

Do not use MakiRoll to:

• Break the law or infringe someone else’s rights.
• Record people who have not agreed to be recorded.
• Interfere with the service, probe it for abuse, or attempt to extract our models or keys.
• Upload or generate harmful, illegal, or deceptive content.

Intellectual property

MakiRoll, including its design, features, and content (excluding your content), is owned by FjordKit Digital and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

The MakiRoll name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of FjordKit Digital.

Availability

Recording is designed to keep working if the network drops. Live questions, take-finding, and account sync need a connection. The app, prices, and features may change or be interrupted. We may suspend access if these terms are broken.

Disclaimer of warranties

MakiRoll is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components, and we make no warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or quality of the questions, takes, or videos it produces.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FjordKit Digital shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost recordings, failed exports, or missed posts — whether incurred directly or indirectly.

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for MakiRoll in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to MakiRoll at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.

Changes to terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Denmark, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
